Corporate Communications & Community Engagement Manager / Senior Manager
Position Summary
The Corporate Communications & Community Engagement Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and promoting the company’s public image and fostering meaningful connections within the community. This position has a broad portfolio and will be responsible for overseeing public relations strategies, community interactions, managing community engagement efforts, directing social media strategies and executing impactful events to strengthen the company’s local presence, lead internal communications and events to also help drive up employee engagement, and work with our lobbying consultants to engage with state and local governments. The manager will drive social media initiatives to amplify brand awareness and engage with diverse audiences across multiple platforms. Additionally, the role will handle public affairs, ensuring effective communication with key stakeholders and promoting the company’s positions on relevant issues. Through strategic storytelling, proactive media outreach, and community-focused activities, the manager will help elevate the company’s reputation and support its growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Public RelationsPlanning and execution of comprehensive public relations strategies and budget; management of media relations – including pitching stories, responding to inquiries and fostering strong relationships with journalists and influencers; oversee the creation and distribution of press releases, media kits and other communication materials; monitor and analyze media coverage to assess impact and adjust strategies as needed.
Community Engagement and EventsBuild relationships with local communities, organizations and stakeholders; plan, organize and execute community engagement initiatives, events and sponsorships; identify and leverage opportunities for the company and employees to participate in local events, the community or causes that align with the brand.
Social Media ManagementDevelop and implement social media strategies to drive brand awareness, engagement and community interaction; work with our social media firm to create and curate content across multiple social media platforms, ensuring consistency with brand messaging and voice; monitor social media trends and audience sentiment to adjust strategies and campaigns; manage community conversations online.
Content Creation and Brand MessagingDevelop compelling content, including press releases, blog posts, articles and cast stories to tell the company’s store; ensure all external communications align with company’s core messaging and values; collaborate with internal teams to gather stories, customer testimonials and other content that enhances brand reputation.
Market Research and AnalysisUtilize market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, customer preferences, and opportunities for innovation. Use data-driven insights to inform marketing strategies and decision-making.
Employee CommunicationDevelop and implement internal communication strategies and events to foster a connected and engaged workforce; produce and distribute internal announcements and updates to keep employees informed about company news, initiatives and achievements; ensure consistent messaging across internal communication channels including email, intranet and meetings.
Public AffairsManage and strengthen the organization’s relationships with key stakeholders, such as community leaders, state and local government officials, the media, and the public, by promoting the company’s objectives and fostering a positive public image.
Collaboration and CommunicationEffectively communicate campaign status, provide insights and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment and integration of marketing efforts across various departments.
Data Driven DecisionsProduce summaries of campaign performance, monitor strategy effectiveness, and conduct competitive analyses to identify areas for improvement and inform future strategies.
Industry TrendsStay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and customer behavior to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Measuring Success
Media Coverage and Public Relations ImpactDriving positive media mentions, articles and press releases published across various media outlets. Success can be measured by the estimated value of media coverage, quality and strength of relationships built with journalists and media out lets and the company’s media presence compared to competitors.
Brand ConsistencyMaintaining consistency in brand messaging and visual identity across all marketing channels is essential for building brand recognition and trust. Success can be measured by the degree of alignment between marketing materials, adherence to brand guidelines, and consistency in brand communication.
Timeliness and EfficiencyThe ability to manage initiatives within established timelines and budgets is important for success. Measures of success include meeting project deadlines, staying within budget constraints, and maximizing resource utilization to achieve optimal outcomes.
Cross-Functional CollaborationCollaboration with internal teams and external partners is critical for executing successful marketing campaigns. Success can be measured by the level of cooperation and alignment achieved across departments, as well as the effectiveness of communication and coordination in achieving shared objectives.
Community Engagement and Event SuccessEstablishing successful events that drive engagement within our communities with both businesses and consumers. Success is measured by event attendance, the number of new community partnerships, sponsorships and collaborations, positive community feedback and local recognition.
Social Media EngagementDriving positive social media engagement that promotes the brand in a meaningful way. Success is measured by follower growth, engagement rates, content reach and impressions and sentiment of mentions and discussions.
Content DevelopmentDevelopment of quality content that aligns with brand messaging and storytelling. Success is measured by volume and quality of content and content impact (views, shares, comments, etc.)
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of corporate communications experience (Required); 8+ years of experience for Senior Manager role.
- Telecommunications experience a plus.
- Strong understanding of media relations, social media management, event planning, community outreach and public affairs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. They should be able to effectively convey ideas, write compelling copy, and communicate with various stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure smooth project execution.
- Ability to think creatively and come up with innovative marketing ideas and campaigns that resonate with the target audience.
- Basic project management skills to effectively plan, execute, and monitor marketing initiatives. This includes coordinating with internal teams, external vendors, and tracking project timelines and budgets.
- Experience with relevant software and tools used in marketing is a plus.
- A scrappy, nimble, innovative, and hands-on contributor who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves to accomplish goals and has a passion for competing and winning against larger players in the market.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $98,000 to $120,000 per year.
